Samsung 8 MP touch phone

Strengthening its touchscreen portfolio, Samsung has launched India's first 8 megapixel touchscreen phone, Pixon M8800.

The 8 megapixel camera offers maximum image resolution of 3264x2448 with auto-focus, face-recognition, Wide Dynamic Range, Advance Shake Reduction, GPS geo-tagging support, and WSVGA and VGA video recording at 30fps.

The 3.2-inch WQVGA large full touchscreen supports Samsung TouchWiz user interface for intuitive tap, sweep, drag and drop operations as well as live Home Screen Widgets like weather info, Google Search etc.

The 3G capable Pixon comes with an onscreen QWERTY keyboard and onscreen handwriting recognition for emailing, messaging and other inputs.

Announcing the launch Sunil Dutt, Country Head, Samsung Telecom Division said, "Pixon is made for users who want to experience full multimedia entertainment on their mobile phone with the ease of a touch."

The phone supports video player formats including DivX, Xvid, MP4. The phone also has automatic screen orientation. Samsung Pixon also sports an advanced Music Player with SRS 3D surround sound.

For gamers, Pixon comes pre-loaded with host of popular games like Brain Challenge, Diamond Twister and Millionaire-3. Apart from these, users can also enjoy the motion-sensor based game -- Tumbling Dice game can be played by shaking the handset.

Priced at Rs.28,750, the phone offers support for both HSDPA high speed Internet with up to 7.2 download speed and UMTS capability.

Other touchscreen phones in Samsung portfolio include Samsung Omnia (i900), Samsung TouchWiz (F480), both having 5 megapixel camera resolutions as well as Samsung i780, which has a full QWERTY keyboard and full touchscreen.
